When people hear "free Medicare consultation," the first question is usually: What's the catch?
There isn't one. Here's exactly what happens when you sit down with a licensed agent at Senior American Insurance Group — and why it genuinely costs you nothing.
Why It's Free
Independent Medicare agents like ours are compensated by the insurance carriers when you enroll in a plan — not by you. That means we have every incentive to find you the right plan, not just any plan. If we steer you wrong, you won't come back, and you won't refer your neighbors. Our business runs on trust.
So when we say free, we mean it. No hidden fees. No pressure to buy. No obligation whatsoever.
What We Cover in a Consultation
A typical consultation runs about an hour. Here's what we walk through together:
Your current coverage. We start by understanding what you have now — whether that's Original Medicare, a Medicare Advantage plan, a Supplement, or employer coverage you're transitioning off of. Knowing your starting point helps us figure out what's working and what isn't.
Your doctors and hospitals. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, your network matters. We check whether your primary care physician, specialists, and preferred hospitals are in-network for the plans we're comparing. This is one of the most common surprises seniors face — and one of the easiest to avoid with a little planning.
Your prescriptions. Drug formularies change every year. A medication that was covered at Tier 2 last year might be Tier 3 or higher this year, which can significantly change your out-of-pocket costs. We run your prescriptions through the plans we're comparing so you know exactly what you'll pay.
Your budget. We look at the full picture — monthly premiums, deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket maximums — not just the headline premium. A $0-premium plan isn't always the best deal once you factor in what you'd pay at the doctor or pharmacy.
Your options, side by side. We compare plans from multiple carriers available in your county. East Tennessee has different plan availability than, say, Nashville — and what's available in Knox County may differ from Monroe or McMinn County. We know the local market.
What We Don't Do
We don't push you toward any particular carrier. We're not tied to one company, which means we can show you the full picture and let you decide. We also don't rush you. If you need a few days to think it over, that's completely fine — we're here when you're ready.
Who Should Schedule a Consultation?
A free consultation is a good idea if you:
- Are turning 65 and enrolling in Medicare for the first time
- Are approaching retirement and transitioning off employer coverage
- Have a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan and aren't sure if it's still the best fit
- Have had changes in your health, medications, or doctors in the past year
- Just want a second opinion on your current coverage
You don't need to wait for Open Enrollment to talk to us. Some enrollment windows — like the Initial Enrollment Period when you first become eligible — have their own timelines. And for the Annual Election Period (AEP), which runs October 15 through December 7, we can begin reviewing the brand new 2027 plans with you starting October 1, as soon as they're officially released. That gives you a two-week head start before AEP opens and plans can be written.
